Course Recap Overview0:05
And that's a wrap. Over the past few lessons, we've taken a journey through view state management landscape from simple props to composable to PIA and even Async State using 10 Stack Query. Let's take a moment to review what we covered. We began with our stepper component that managed IT state through props and events. We quickly saw the issues that arose. We were passing props around from parent to child,
Prop Drilling Solutions0:24
We quickly saw the issues that arose. We were passing props around from parent to child, also known as prop drilling. And this is something we mitigated using provide and inject. Using provide, you can have a component exposed dependency to its entire tree, so every child component can inject this dependency and make use of it. This is a great feature.
dependency and make use of it. This is a great feature and view that I personally often use in UI components to provide its state to the children. For example, we can have an Accordion component that provides its open index to its children and then the children can act on it. We then moved on from provide and inject to our own composable because provide and inject is only able to share dependencies in its tree.
Composable and Pinia State0:59
and inject to our own composable because provide and inject is only able to share dependencies in its tree. Using our own state composable, we were able to circumvent this limitation and share the state to our entire application. And then we spent the next few lessons getting to know Pina, the recommended state management library for Vue. We learned about option and setup stores. We took a deep dive in the dev tools and we learned how to do async actions in Pina.
We took a deep dive in the dev tools and we learned how to do Async actions in Pina to talk to our own backend. We then moved on to some advanced topics like onAction and plugins, and we got to know the Pina persistedState plugin that makes state persistence easy to work with. And we finally even created our own plugin for PIA that allows us to add those notifications to the page. We continued with more advanced topics like testing.
Async State with Query1:39
that allows us to add those notifications to the page. We continued with more advanced topics like testing and SSR and next. And finally, we took a look at my favorite way of working with Async State 10 Stack Query. We took a look at how 10 Stack Query helps us eliminate boilerplate code when interacting with APIs and how some nice additional features like ensuring data freshness make our life as a developer easier. Pena is my personal go-to state management library in Vue,
Final Advice and Farewell2:00
freshness make our life as a developer easier. Pena is my personal go-to state management library in view, and lately I found myself using TENS Stack Query more and more, so be sure to check that one out. Thank you very much for sticking with me during this series. As a final word of advice, I'd recommend you check out a opinion and the 10 Stack Query docs and don't be afraid to get your hands dirty by checking out and playing with their examples.
