Course Overview & App Goal0:09
Welcome to this introduction course to React. I hope you're excited. We are gonna start from scratch and build a pretty cool dev pop app where we can search favorite and add cute puppies from the web dev community. All right, so if you hear, you've probably already decided to learn React, but let's go through a few good reason why Learning React is indeed a great decision. The first good reason is the huge popularity of React. It's everywhere. It's used by a lot of teams, a lot
Why React Is Popular0:39
The first good reason is the huge popularity of React. It's everywhere. It's used by a lot of teams, a lot of companies, and it does make a difference in the job market. If you have React skills, there's a lot of job out there for you due to this huge popularity. It also has an enormous community and an unparalleled ecosystem. There are things for anything that you want to do from UI libraries like Chakra UI.
Ecosystem, AI, and JSX0:57
There are things for anything that you want to do from UI libraries like Chakra UI, Tailwind, Charting Library, or 3D stuff. You name it. Another good reason not to be underestimated is how AI is really good with React. So if you ask in a prompt to build some sort of UI without specifying much, typically you'll have a React and Tailwind front end. Another thing that I think is a good reason is JSX. So while JSX initially feels like this weird idea.
Housekeeping and Prerequisites1:20
Another thing that I think is a good reason is JSX. So while JSX initially feels like this weird idea to put HTML in your JavaScript, it's actually I think a great idea. It's super powerful and it's going to teach you a lot about JavaScript as you progress in React. Before we start a little bit of housekeeping. So for this course, you do not need any prior React skills, but that said, you do need a little bit
So for this course, you do not need any prior React skills, but that said, you do need a little bit of knowledge in JavaScript. A lot of React is just JavaScript. And so for this course, I'll assume at least a little bit of familiarity with the language. We're going to use Node and the NPM package manager to install stuff. So if you wanna follow along, make sure you've got this. If you're using Laravel Herd,
Installing and Checking Node1:58
So if you wanna follow along, make sure you've got this. If you're using Laravel Herd, you should already have Node installed. And if you don't have it, you can download Node from nodejs.org. If unsure, run node -v in your terminal and that should tell you the version you're using, if any. Alright, I think we're ready to get started with this course. What do you think?
